REGISTRARS   |   SPECIAL SKILLS

All GGT's practices are located in ASGC-RA areas 2 or 3. There are different levels of incentives available to doctors working in these areas depending on the area classification. These apply to the ten year restrictions, HECS reimbursement and General Practice Rural Incentives Scheme. Further details of these can be found below or by searching for a particular location at the Doctor Connect website.

Rural Registrar Incentive Payments Scheme (RRIPS)
Until 30 June 2010, registrars who commit to Rural Pathway training in RRMA 4-7 areas may be eligible for up to $60,000 over three years of General Practice training. It should be noted that registrars will not receive incentive payments for undertaking their mandatory hospital training year. Incentive payment guidelines, including the payment process, eligibility, pay rates and administration, are available from Regional Training Providers (such as Greater Green Triangle GP Education & Training).  The incentive payments are administered by the Medicare Australia (formerly HIC).

For more information, call the Rural Incentives Payments help line on 1800 010 550 or contact the GGT office.

General Practice Rural Incentives Scheme (GRIPS)

From 1 July 2010, RRIPS will be replaced with GRIPS. This will be available to registrars and GPs practising in ASGC-RA classified 2-5 areas, for up to $47,000 over five years. More information will be available later in the year.

ERTF

The Enhanced Rural Training Framework aims to engage registrars who have a specific interest in rural or remote general practice. The structure of the framework allows for different levels of registrar interest, with Level A leading to either the RACGP's Graduate Diploma in Rural General Practice or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Levels B and C provide support for other educational activities, such as short courses. For more information about the ERTF, please contact the GGT office.

HECS Reimbursment Scheme

You may be eligible to have up to one-fifth of your HECS fees reimbursed for each year you work in a RRMA 3-7 area. To find out more about this scheme, read the brochure or contact us.
