More about Warrnambool

This practice has vacancies for GPT 1, 2 or 3 registrars.

Training Opportunities

Our Medical Centre has been involved in the General Practice Training Program for over twenty years; our Doctors are committed to the education, training and mentoring of Registrars. Registrars at our Practice have the opportunity to be involved in total patient care through home visits and visits to local nursing homes and they have visiting rights to both our local hospitals

We have teaching sessions to provide clinical education within the Practice and our Registrar has the opportunity to attend other professional development programs including weekly education sessions (with a guest speaker) through the WMO Association at the hospital and through our local Otway Division of General Practice.

Experience can be gained in all General Practitioner services including minor operations, immunisations (childhood, travel etc), industrial medicine (employment medicals and WorkCover consultations), diving medicals, aviation medicals and student health. Our Practice offers good opportunities to practice sport-based medicine as we are in a very sports orientated area.

Our Medical Centre has access to a wide range of auxiliary health providers such as Podiatrists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, an Aged Care Assessment team and a Mental Health Team

Registrar Support

Our orientation includes meetings with GP Supervisor/Practice Manager, a tour of the city and social staff get-togethers followed by an initial week sitting in on consultations with the supervising Doctors.

Education Sessions are 1 - 3 hours a week and the Registrar is invited to all staff Practice meetings which involve day to day administration issues.

Formal meetings are held with GP Supervisor/Practice Manager to exchange feedback and extra meetings are held to counsel on new incentives and for exam preparation. There are also Hospital meetings, providing education on a particular health subject and Clinical/Teaching Meetings organized by the Otway Division of GP and Greater Green Triangle GP Education & Training.

We assist Registrars to find appropriate accommodation and to become involved in the community.

In our Clinic

Our modern Clinic houses six consulting rooms and a large staff room with two comfortable waiting areas. Our Registrar has her/his own fully equipped consulting room. To provide progressive medicine our clinic has a wide range of equipment, medical supplies and medical literature available. We have an extensive treatment room, where minor operations, immunizations, wound management and other related services are carried out. We also have ECG and spirometry machines, glucometers, ventilator, asthma inhalers and a wide range of dressings and other medical supplies to aid clinical staff.

Our practice Nurses (three part-time) assist our Doctors clinically with minor operations, industrial medicine, emergency triage and immunisations. They also provide administrative and clinical support with aged care health assessments; diabetes and asthma 3+ care plans. We use a fully computerized medical record and accounting/payroll system, using Medical Director software for medical records.

Practice Philosophy

Our motto is to "provide an extensive range of general practice services in a friendly, caring, ethical environment". As part of our general philosophy, we offer the best medical services to meet the needs of our individual patients. Alongside our clinicians (Doctors and nurses) who aim to provide the best health practices which include preventative measures, our administration staff strive to offer the best customer service in a caring team environment.
