Lorne

Lorne is a popular seaside town on the Great Ocean Road. The area has permanent population of about 3,000, but as a tourist centre there are always plenty of visitors and there can be a 10 fold increase in the peak holiday seasons of Christmas and Easter.

The permanent population in the shire is approximately 24,000, and that is expected to increase as more people seek a "sea-change" along the coast.

The area boasts magnificent surf and swimming beaches with surf life saving clubs in Lorne and Aireys Inlet, golf courses, swimming pool, tennis courts, skate park, playground, bushwalking and waterfalls in Otway Rainforest, the Angahook-Lorne State Park, cinema, restaurants and cafes, art galleries, indoor recreation centre, ocean and river fishing, hang gliding and lawn bowls.

Annual events include: 'Pier to Pub' swim - the largest annual ocean fun swim in the world, and 'Rock above the Fall' - open air rock concert in the New Year season at Erskine Falls.
